Brazilian street artist L7M travels to Montreal for inaugural Canadian exhibition.

Brazilian street artist Luis Seven Martins, aka L7M, will be travelling to Montreal for his first Canadian solo exhibition at Station 16 Gallery. The vernissage will be held on Thursday November 17^th. L7M is best known for his mesmerizing murals often depicting birds built up in layers of brightly colored spray paint. Having been working with the medium from a young age, L7M has a very distinct style and his murals can be seen all around the world. For this inaugural Canadian exhibition titled Eleutheria, L7M will be showcasing works that represent both Canadian and Brazilian birds. Eleutheria, an Ancient Greek term for liberty, plays on the dichotomy of birds that have been caged and then set free. All works of art in the exhibition depict birds in dynamic states of flight: a hopeful celebration of freedom.

In addition to the exhibition, which will run from November 17^th until December 10^th, L7M will be creating a mural at the W Hotel in Old Montreal. The unveiling of this work will take place on the evening of November 19^th at the W Hotel during a 5 à 8 apperitivo celebrating the one year anniversary of Ê.a.t. Restaurant. Être avec toi blurs the boundaries of art access by offering its clients art right on their table. Halfway between a gallery and a restaurant, the pieces made by 15 Montreal artists become furniture and waiters become artistic mediators. 

L'artiste brésilien Luis Seven Martins, L7M, se rendra à Montréal pour sa première exposition solo canadienne à la Galerie Station 16. Le vernissage aura lieu le 17 novembre 2016. L7M est reconnu pour ses murales représentant des oiseaux construits de couches d’aérosol de couleurs vive. Ayant travaillé avec ce medium dès un jeune âge, L7M a un style distinct et ses murales ce retrouve partout dans le monde. Pour cette exposition intitulée Eleutheria, L7M présentera des œuvres représentant des oiseaux canadiens et brésiliens. Le mot grec Eleutheria, qui se traduit par  « liberté, » joue sur la dichotomie entre des oiseaux mis en cage et puis libéré. Toutes les œuvres de l'exposition représentent des oiseaux dans des états dynamiques de vol : un rappel à la célébration de la liberté.



En plus de l'exposition, qui se déroulera du 17 novembre au 10 décembre, L7M va créer une mural au W Montréal. Le dévoilement de l’œuvre aura lieu le 19 novembre pendant un apperitivo 5 à 8 au W Montréal pour souligner l’anniversaire du restaurant Ê.a.t. « Être avec toi » pousse les limites de l’accessibilité artistique en offrant à ses clients l’art à même leur table. À mi-chemin entre galerie et restaurant, les œuvres d'une quinzaine d'artistes montréalais deviennent mobiliers et les serveurs médiateurs artistiques.
