De cette délégation, il est important de mentionner la galerie Station 16, le Festival Mural, LDNMRK, et le réalisateur Maxime Charron, qui y seront pour faire la promotion de la scène artistique québécoise et son marché de l’art.

Plusieurs artistes québécois seront également présents. Certains participeront à la création de murales dans le quartier Wynwood. Depuis 2009, ce quartier a développé un district complètement axé sur le street art nommé Wynwood Walls. On y retrouve des oeuvres d’artistes les plus renommés au monde, dont Shepard Fairey, Kashink, Phase 2, HOW & NOSM.

L’Art Basel est une des plus importantes foires annuelles d’art contemporain au monde avec plus de 250 galeries présentes et 70 000 visiteurs.

Bienvenue/Welcome

En marge de ce mouvement artistique qui est en plein essor, un réalisateur montréalais, Maxime Charron, s’est intéressé aux précurseurs de la scène locale de l’art de rue montréalais. En juin 2014, lors de la deuxième édition du festival Mural, débutait la production de son long-métrage documentaire portant sur l’économie du street art à Montréal: Bienvenue/Welcome.

La mission de ce documentaire est d’initier le public à cette forme d’art et son impact. Bienvenue/Welcome dresse un portrait de ce qu’est le street art et ses origines, avec la participation d’artistes locaux et internationaux, mais également avec des professionnels clé du milieu. Le documentaire se questionne sur le phénomène de popularité soudaine du street art, sa valeur ajoutée et les nouveaux marchés qui s’offrent aux artistes.

Maxime Charron accompagnera la délégation québécoise au Art Basel et à Wynwood Walls afin de compléter son documentaire.

L’équipe derrière le documentaire Bienvenue/Welcome lance aujourd’hui leur campagne de financement Kickstarter afin de compléter la post-production et permettre au documentaire de bénéficier d’une diffusion internationale.

Vous êtes invités le 25 novembre prochain, à la galerie Station 16, pour rencontrer les artistes et organismes qui feront partie de cette délégation Art Basel Miami/Wynwood Walls. Lors de ce cocktail 5 à 7, l’équipe du long-métrage documentaire Bienvenue/Welcome sera également présente pour lancer officiellement sa campagne de financement Kickstarter et diffuser, en primeur, un extrait du documentaire.

For the last 4 years, Montreal stood out on the international scene as one of the main destination and a go-to place when it comes to street art. This acknowledgement is mainly due to our local artists and the various organizations working hard to promote the Montreal scene.

Next December, from 1^st to 7^th, a delegation of artists, galleries, and organizations from Quebec will be present at the international art fair held in Miami at Art Basel/Wynwood Walls.

Among this delegation it is important to name Station 16 Gallery, Festival Mural, LDNMRK and the director Maxime Charron, who will be present to promote and publicize the local art scene and the street art market in the province.

Several Quebec artists will be attending: LIST. They will take part in the creation of murals in the Wynwood neighborhood. Since 2009 this area developed a district totally dedicated to street art, named Wynwood Walls. You can find work from world renowned artists such as Shepard Fairey, Kashink, Phase 2, HOW & NOSM.

Art Basel is one of the most important annual art fair in the world, with more than 250 participating galleries and over 70,000 visitors.

Bienvenue/Welcome

In parallel with this growing artistic movement, a Montreal based director, Maxime Charron, took a closer look at the Montreal street art local scene pioneers. In June 2014 was the beginning of his feature length documentary about Montreal street art economy: Bienvenue/Welcome.

This documentary’s purpose is to introduce the public to this form of art and its impact. Bienvenue/Welcome gives a portrayal of street art and from where it comes, with local and international artists’ involvement, but also with key professionals of this field. The documentary discuesses the sudden popularity of street art, its added value, and the new markets now within reach.

Maxime Charron will accompany the Quebec delegation at Art Basel and Wynwood Walls in order to complete his documentary.

The team behind Bienvenue/Welcome launches today its Kickstarter financing campaign to ensure the film’s postproduction and enable the project to enjoy an international distribution.

You are invited this November 25^th, at Station 16 Gallery, to meet the artists and organizations being part of this Art Basel/Wynwood Walls delegation. During this happy hour, Bienvenue/Welcome feature length documentary’s team will be there to officially launch the Kickstarter financing campaign and release a film clip from the documentary.
