The Street Museum of Art presents a unique and innovative approach to experiencing art by extending beyond the physicality of a museum or gallery. By combining the strategic curation and organization of a museum with the guerilla techniques of a street artist, SMoA is the first public art program of its kind.

With planned exhibitions, The Street Museum of Art takes its participants on a journey through a city. SMoA provides titles and descriptions alongside the street art, allowing for an educational exploration. Their current exhibition is “24 hours in NYC” and features the work of 18 local artists, including Cernesto, Enzo & Nio, Jilly Ballistic, and others. The show extends through Williamsburg, Bushwick, SoHo, Chelsea, and the Lower East Side. Since the urban landscape is constantly changing, the duration of each piece is uncertain and new works can appear overnight. Therefore, there is a wild spontaneity to the exhibitions that is incomparable to an interior show.

The Street Museum of Art teamed up with Station 16 last fall to feature the street art of Montreal. The exhibition, “Dans la Rue,” mapped out the Plateau and highlighted the art of 12 local talents, which included many Station 16 artists. SMoA took its participants down alleyways and side streets, uncovering the art of Stikki Peaches, WIA, Waxhead, Labrona, OMEN, Produkt, and others. The Montreal exhibition was the first international show for SMoA, with the hopes of many more to come.
