Station 16 Gallery is thrilled to present you Waxhead's Multiverse, a solo show by Waxhead, opening Thursday, November 7th. The show will run until November 24th.

Montreal-based street artist, painter, and creature creator Waxhead has been adorning the city’s public spaces with otherworldly scenes and dream-like characters since 2013.  His upcoming solo show, Waxhead's Multiverse, explores themes of nostalgia, memory, and collecting culture, immersing the viewer in an eclectic and whimsical environment composed of larger-than-life plush toys, reinvented historical photographs, and hand-crafted cabinets of curiosities.  Waxhead's Multiverse will include a mix of paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics and more.

Building from the paintings and altered photographs featured in his first exhibition, Waxhead has continued to construct his lively and eccentric universe beyond the two-dimensional picture plane.  His brightly coloured three-dimensional characters are odd yet familiar, submerging the viewer into a vibrant world saturated by the artist’s signature playful style: colossal plush creatures you can sink into and make friends with appear alongside palm-sized sculptures that strike one as mementos collected from a journey to an alien landscape.  Through his distinctive visual idiom, Waxhead weaves vivid narratives into a dense and textured environment begging to be explored.
